Covid-19 Pandemic // How did it affect weddings?

Yvette and James are a perfect example of how 2020 hit us hard with many date changes and several unknowns in the beginning of the pandemic.

We had booked our session for early 2020, a beautiful elopement at Cathedral Rock. May 3rd, 2020 was the date we booked for and we had no idea that when she reached out in January, that the world was about to flip over. Her initial inquiry drew me to them immediately, I knew they had such a beautiful love story and they were excited to get pictures to show it.

“I am from Australia and James is from the US. We have been in a long distance relationship for 3.5 years and I have just been issued my VISA to be able to come to the US so we can get married. We will also be having a ceremony with all our family and friends in 12 months time, but for now we are hoping to the the knot, just us two within the next 3 months! We love the idea of getting married at Cathedral Rock, but again, open to other suggestions.”

When March hit, Arizona shut down and everything fell into the unknown.
The city of Sedona shut down the trails, cathedral rock was off limits.
We held out waiting to see if things would improve, May 23rd was selected as our new date for their elopement in March, just to give the world more time to recover and evaluate how safe it was for our session.

Memorial day came and went, and luckily the trails opened, but there was still high hesitancy to do anything with groups not within our inner circle.
So we rescheduled again, to October 10, 2020.

Fall exploded with sessions, but sharing the early days of the pandemic with Yvette and James, made their day feel more special, because we made it through.
We were finally able to create these beautiful images last fall and it was definitely a highlight to be back out in the world capturing couples in love.

2020 taught me the importance of having patience and flexibility, since anything can happen.

Many things are beyond our control, but if we can make things work in the future, it’s worth it.

“My husband and I planned a small elopement in Sedona. I found Victoria on Instagram and loved her style. We went through the planning process without a wedding planner which proved to be difficult. Victoria was so helpful in making suggestions and pointing us into the right direction, even though I know she really didn’t have to do that as our photographer. On the day of the wedding, she was prompt in arrival and swift in ensuring that she captured everything. In our evening shoot, we went to 2 locations but looking at our pictures it appears that we went to at least 20. She has an amazing eye for photography and truly captured the spirit of our relationship. The quality is excellent and we could not be happier with how our photos turned out. Victoria is a gem. “Totally WORTH IT! Highly recommend!

Victoria is amazing behind the camera. I am usually really camera shy but I was so comfortable. It literally felt like a DREAM! We enjoyed each breath taking moment!”

“Our wedding was originally March 2020 and she was so great during that difficult time of unexpected rescheduling. When we finally met 2 years after our first email exchange she made us feel so comfortable and at ease.

We would 100% recommend her to anyone and would be thrilled to have her take our photos again.”
