Horseshoe Bend Tours in Page gave us a private tour allowing us to shoot timeless Secret Antelope Canyon engagement photos.
Page is notorious for its Southwest rocks and waterways — think of Upper Antelope Canyon, the Colorado River, and Horseshoe Bend. Braden’s father Bob, who provides tours for Horseshoe Bend Tours, gave us private tour that gave us some incredible Horseshoe Bend and Secret Antelope Canyon engagement photos. Antelope Canyon is owned by multiple different companies, meaning different guides will take you to different parts of Antelope Canyon.
The private experience was an unforgettable White Desert Photography first, and one I would recommend to anyone. Keep reading to learn more about what this vendor can provide and see incredible Secret Antelope Canyon engagement photos.
Is Secret Antelope Canyon as good as Upper Antelope Canyon?
Unlike many other famous spots in the Southwest, different companies own different parts of Antelope Canyon.
Because multiple companies own different parts of the area, you have a choice of guides. And in reality, there are countless slot canyons like Upper Antelope Canyon surrounding Page. Slot canyons are tall and narrow canyons with rock walls that were formed by water over time.
The well-known Upper Antelope Canyon is pretty popular, but only one tour guide company will take you there.
I’d recommend casual visitors and landscape photographers use Upper Antelope Canyon, but it’s hard to recommend couples shoot engagement photos there. Multiple photographer and regular groups are using the canyon at the same time as groups squeeze through the tight canyon. It’s hard to get couples comfortable with people staring at your candid moments nearby.
Meanwhile, Secret Antelope Canyon provides a more intimate experience, perfect for portrait or engagement photos.
Horseshoe Bend Tours
Horseshoe Bend Tours provides this unique experience because they own their own part of Antelope Canyon and Horseshoe Bend.
As a part of their offerings, the company offer a private tour for 3 hours, visiting both Secret Antelope Canyon and Horseshoe Bend Overlook. It’s a bit pricey at $1,500 before tax and fees, but it offers a unique, tranquil view of Antelope Canyon for just the 2 of you and your photographer.
During our guided tour, I photographed Braden and Jamie while a few of their family members came along for the journey. We could hear the wind pass through the canyons and sand sift underneath our feet. There wasn’t anyone else waiting for us to get out of their shot, no hikers playing music, and no scraping the canyon walls to get around other groups.
We had all the time and space we needed.
Afterward, the guide took us to a private spot at Horseshoe Bend. A keen eye will notice our photo below features a different angel than the typical shots. Once again, there was no crowds, no noise, and no issues during our shoot.
This gave Braden and Jamie the space to be themselves, which brought back incredible, wide-angle photos.
Where is Secret Antelope Canyon?
The slot canyon is located around of Page, and Horseshoe bend is south of Page.
When traveling from out-of-state, remember Page is almost directly on the Utah-Arizona border. Meaning it’s a few hours from Phoenix.
