This lightly used trail with countless Sedona red rocks may not be on most people’s venue list, but it made for an unforgettable Munds Wagon wedding for Mike & Ashley.
The Munds Wagon Trail can be accessed from downtown Sedona near Schnedbly Hill Road. Its spectacular views of Merry-Go-Round Rock, Bear Wallow Canyon, and the Mogollon Rim make a perfect southwestern backdrop. A Munds Wagon wedding is easy to pull off because of the wide open space compared to some Sedona locations where you can only elope.
Munds Wagon climbs more than 1,000 feet of elevation over the four-mile one way trail. Additionally, there are many trails that can be accessed make sure you know where you’re going.

Preparing for Munds Wagon Trail
Mike & Ashley knew that their Munds Wagon wedding would take some special planning to pull off perfectly.
From outdoor appropriate shoes to fixing their hair and makeup, this couple thought of it all. Similarly, the couple made sure their ceremony location was near the beginning of the trail. The couple decided to hold their gathering near the main trail, meaning there was no danger of bikers or hikers moving through the ceremony.
Creekside Inn bridals
Before the wedding, we gathered the bridal party at Creekside Inn for their timeless bridal photos.
We took the bride, groom and wedding party to a secluded space for natural photos. This Bed and Breakfast is located near Tlaquepaque. It’s prized for its location near Oak Creek and the ability to rent out the space for your family and bridal party.
The light made a perfect backdrop for the photos, featuring one of the most dapper huskies!
Where is Munds Wagon Trail?
Munds Wagon Trail is located near downtown Sedona in Northern Arizona. As one travels south on the 89A from Flagstaff, it is located at the roundabout directly after Tlaquepaque.
Creekside Inn is a four minute drive, or 1.3 miles away, from Munds Wagon. Conveniently, Mike & Ashley thought ahead and took advantage of Mund Wagon’s location. By booking their reception at Creekside Inn, it was no trouble traveling between the two locations.
As a photographer with years of experience holding weddings in Sedona, many people underestimate the travel time in the small town. Traffic often clogs the two lane roads making long distance traveling between wedding and reception locations difficult. We recommend thinking ahead on this point!
Creekside Inn reception
The couple, photos, and wedding guests made this an absolute joy to photograph.
As always, I focused on ensuring the couple was as comfortable as possible. I focus on posing my clients in ways that make them feel natural. The perfect end to a stunning winter wedding came with a mug of hot cocoa next to a warm fire.
